STEAMGLIDE
An autonomous hybrid underwater platform conceived to explore a new energy architecture: generating hydrogen on demand directly on board and using it to power mission electrical systems.

Underwater endurance,
reimagined through energy.
STEAMGLIDE is not conceived as a conventional glider, but as a hybrid platform designed around STEAMH2 technology. The concept explores integration between on-board hydrogen generation, fuel cells, electrical storage, propulsion and control systems.
Long endurance
Architecture aimed at extended autonomous missions, where energy management is one of the main design constraints.
Available water
STEAMH2 technology has also been validated with seawater, making the marine environment particularly relevant for platform development.
Hybrid energy system
Fuel cells and electrical storage can work together: continuous mission energy with power availability for dynamic loads.

From the solid energy carrier
to electric propulsion.
The integration principle is straightforward: STEAMH2 converts the energy potential of aluminum into hydrogen generated when required; the fuel cell then converts hydrogen into electrical power for onboard systems.
Generate hydrogen
where it is needed.
STEAMGLIDE explores the advantage of separating the energy carrier from hydrogen: rather than basing the mission exclusively on high-pressure H₂ storage, hydrogen is generated on board according to energy demand. The marine environment also provides water for the process, while the complete architecture manages the materials and by-products required for the operating cycle on board.
